Applying for tax certificates from outside Ginowan City

Starting on February 1, 2023, residents can now apply for income taxation certificate (所得課税証明書 shotoku kazei shomeisho) online. Please see the following link for more details. 

It is possible to apply for tax certificates by mail.

You must specify the fiscal year that you wish to apply for on your application form.

We can only issue tax certificates to you only if you were living in Ginowan City as of January 1st of the particular fiscal year that you are applying for.

For example:

• We cannot issue you a certificate for fiscal year 2021 if you already moved out of Ginowan before January 1st, 2021. You will need to contact the town/city that you were living in as of January 1st, 2021.

*Certificates for the latest fiscal year is only available from June of that fiscal year.

For example:

• Certificates for FY2022 (showing income and tax information from January - December 2021) can only be issued from June 2022 onward.

In addition, we cannot issue you resident tax-related certificates unless you have filed your taxes. If you would like more information on how to re-file your taxes for previous years, please contact the Tax Affairs Division at 098-893-4443.

You must attach the following documents in your application package:

1. Return envelop with the appropriate postage attached AND your current address written on the front - this is so that we can use this envelop to mail your certificates back to you
2. Postal money order called TEIGAKU KOGAWASE (purchasable at Japan Post) - certificates are 300 yen per copy. Make sure you provide the necessary amount.
3. Copy of photo ID (front and back)

*Applications with missing documents may be returned to the sender without being processed.

Once you have prepared all the required documents, please mail your package to:
